Use Skills in Claude.ai (No Setup)
4 min readThe fastest way to run any SkillTree skill: upload it to Claude.ai and go. No terminal, no install, works on your laptop, iPad, or phone.
Every skill on the map is an Agent Skill, a small package Claude knows how to run. The same skill works in three places: the Claude app at claude.ai, Claude Code, and the API. For most skills, especially the writing, research, and reasoning ones, claude.ai is the easiest by far. You upload it once and Claude uses it whenever it's relevant.
Custom skills in claude.ai are available on Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, with code execution turned on. On the free plan, upgrade to Pro (about $20/month) or use Claude Code instead.
Add a skill in three steps
Step 1 · Download the skill
Open any skill on the map (or from the Hub) and click Download for Claude.ai. You get a small .zip file, the skill itself, ready to upload.
Step 2 · Turn on Skills in Claude
Go to claude.ai, then Settings → Capabilities. Make sure Code execution is on (skills need it). You will see a Skills section there.
Step 3 · Upload it
In the Skills section, click Upload skill and choose the .zip you downloaded. That is it. The skill is now part of your Claude.
Using it
Start a new chat and describe what you want. Claude picks the right skill automatically when your request matches it. You can also name it directly, for example "use the cold email skill to write a sequence for [your offer]".
Give Claude the context it needs in the message (your offer, the client, the goal). The skill handles the how; you provide the what.
claude.ai or Claude Code?
Both run the same skills. Pick based on the job:
- claude.ai · best for writing, research, content, analysis, and anything you would do in a chat. Zero setup, works on any device. Start here.
- Claude Code · best when a skill needs to touch your actual stack (files on your computer, your CRM, Gmail, running scripts) or when you are building command centers. It is the power-user path, and the next lesson covers it.
You do not have to choose one forever. Most people start everything in claude.ai and move to Claude Code as their builds get deeper.
The Claude desktop app (Mac and Windows) works exactly the same way: same Settings, same Skills upload, no browser tab required.
